Thanks to the help of the Shams-Rumi Foundation of journalist Sinan Can (see www.shamsrumi.nl), an orphanage near Beirut could be renovated, early 2024. This orphanage is home to 20 children (from Lebanon and Syria) that come from sad home situations. There’s nothing like the smiles on these kids’ faces.
What did we do during this project?
- The bathrooms have been thoroughly cleaned and renovated with new showers, toilet seats, lamps, ceiling, etc.
- The water tank has been cleaned, so that the children can shower with clean water again;
- The exterior of the building has been tackled, cracks have been filled and the walls painted, so that the building is ready for winter;
- LED lights have been installed in several places;
- Unsafe sockets have been replaced;
- The sink in the kitchen has been renovated;
- A new door was installed and painted in the girls’ dormitory;
- The girls’ room was made cozier by a colorful curtain
- …and all kinds of other small jobs that came around the corner were taken on.
